Alimony Reform in New Hampshire: A Massachusetts Perspective

by | Mar 25, 2019 | Alimony and Child Support, News

Attorney Karen J. Levitt along with Attorney Eric Schutzbank was a co-presenter at the 2019 Statewide Practice Group Meeting  of the New Hampshire Collaborative Law Alliance.  The meeting was held on Wednesday, March 20th, 2019 in the evening at the Puritan Back Room in Manchester, NH.

The presentation, entitled “Changes in the New Hampshire Alimony Laws“, was on the new alimony law in New Hampshire from the perspective of divorce and family law attorneys such as Attorney Karen J. Levitt who practice in both MA and NH.

Both states have enacted alimony reform laws,  Massachusetts in 2012, and New Hampshire just recently with a statute effective January 1, 2019.  Karen talked about the NH alimony law, compared its provisions to the MA alimony law, shared MA case law with her NH colleagues, and participated in conversation with participants about the challenges of the new law and their application in litigation, collaborative law, and mediation.  It was also a great networking event and allowed Karen to be able to spend time with her NH divorce and family law colleagues!
